Make the daily target small and fixed (for example 60 questions), track it every day, plan tomorrow tonight, and judge yourself by the weekly average rather than single days or single mocks.
Consistency comes from a target you can always meet, not from motivation. Most people lose momentum because the plan is too big, a bad mock hits, or they miss two days and feel they have failed.
Five habits that work
- Set a minimum day. Decide the smallest amount you will do even on a bad day, for example 30 questions and one RC. On good days you will do far more, but the chain never breaks.
- Track one number. Questions solved per day is enough. Write it on a calendar or use a tracker. A daily streak is a simple motivator.
- Plan tomorrow tonight. Write three tasks for the next day before sleeping.
- Use weekly averages. Your mock score will go up and down. Compare the average of this week's mocks with last week's.
- Keep one half-day off. A planned rest is better than a surprise burnout week.
When you miss days
Do not try to "make up" three missed days in one day. Restart with your normal target. Doubling the load after a gap is the usual reason the gap becomes a week.
When a mock goes badly
| Do | Avoid |
|---|---|
| Find the two topics that cost the most marks | Taking another mock straight away to feel better |
| Practise those topics for the next two days | Changing your whole plan or study material |
| Note any timing mistake (stuck on one puzzle) | Comparing with friends' scores |
Make starting easy
Keep your desk ready the night before: notes open to tomorrow's topic, a timer and rough paper. The hardest part of most study days is the first ten minutes. Start with a short, easy task, such as 10 simplification questions, and the rest of the session usually follows.
