SBI gives two official salary figures in its Junior Associate notification. Both were the same in the 2025 and 2026 notifications.

What makes up the Rs 46,000
The notification says the figure includes Dearness Allowance (DA), other allowances at the current rate and the two additional increments for newly recruited graduate Junior Associates. It also says allowances may vary depending on the place of posting, so the figure in a smaller town is usually lower than in Mumbai.
Gross is not in-hand
Rs 46,000 is a gross figure. Your take-home pay is lower after deductions such as your contribution to the National Pension System (NPS), professional tax in states that levy it, and income tax if your income crosses the taxable limit. SBI does not publish an official in-hand figure, so be careful with exact in-hand numbers quoted online.
Other benefits
The notification lists reimbursement of various perquisites, provident fund, pension under the New Pension Scheme (defined contribution), medical, leave fare and other facilities as per the Bank's instructions.
How it grows
- Increments along the pay scale take basic pay up to Rs 64,480 at the top of the clerical scale.
- DA is linked to the price index and revised periodically, so gross pay moves even without a promotion.
- JAIIB and CAIIB bring additional increments for bank employees covered by the 12th Bipartite Settlement.
- Promotion to the officer cadre, for which Junior Associates become eligible after 3 years of service, is the biggest jump.
