What documents should I carry to the SBI Clerk exam centre?

Exam patternUpdated 2026-10-23
Short answer

Carry the call letter with your photo pasted, two extra copies of the same photo, an original photo ID with a self-attested photocopy, and, for Mains, the authenticated Prelims call letter as well. Banned items such as phones and calculators must not be carried.

Missing one document can stop you from writing the exam. Here is the checklist from the 2026 notification and Prelims booklet.

For Prelims

  • Call letter with your photograph pasted on it (the same photo you uploaded). You sign it in front of the invigilator.
  • Two additional photographs, the same as the one pasted on the call letter.
  • Original photo ID plus a self-attested photocopy. Accepted IDs include passport, Aadhaar, PAN card, driving licence, voter card, bank passbook with duly attested photograph, or an identity card issued by a school or college or by a Gazetted Officer on official letterhead.
  • Scribe declaration printout, if you are using a scribe.
  • Glue and a blue ink ball pen, as the booklet advises.

Candidates reporting without the photo pasted on the call letter or without the two additional photos will not be allowed to appear.

After Prelims - keep your call letter

The Prelims call letter is not collected at the venue. It is authenticated or stamped by exam staff along with your ID copy. Keep it safely, because if you are called for Mains you must bring this authenticated Prelims call letter with the Mains call letter.

For Mains

  • Authenticated Prelims call letter (with authenticated ID copy)
  • Mains call letter with photo pasted
  • Two additional photographs
  • Original photo ID and photocopy
  • Other documents listed in the Mains booklet and call letter

Do not carry

Mobile phones, smart watches, calculators, pagers or other communication devices. Safekeeping is not assured, and possession can cancel your candidature.

On arrival

Report by the time printed on your call letter; latecomers are not allowed. Your photo is captured at registration and matched with your application photo, and SBI may capture thumb impressions or iris scans, so do not apply mehendi or ink on your hands.

SBI advises keeping about 8 copies of your application photo for all stages. Print them the day you apply.
Instructions can change. Read your call letter and the Acquaint Yourself booklet for that exam.
