Yes. Widows, divorced women and women judicially separated from their husbands who have not remarried get 7 years of relaxation, up to a maximum age of 35 (General/EWS), 38 (OBC) or 40 (SC/ST), as per the 2026 notification.
Yes. SBI gives a specific age relaxation to widows, divorced women and women judicially separated from their husbands who have not remarried. Under the 2026 notification (and the 2025 one before it) the relaxation is 7 years, subject to these maximum ages:
| Category of the candidate | Maximum age on the cut-off date |
|---|---|
| General / EWS | 35 years |
| OBC (non-creamy layer) | 38 years |
| SC / ST | 40 years |
For the 2026 cycle the cut-off date was 1 April 2026. A General category widow aged 34 on that date was eligible; one aged 36 was not.
Points to keep in mind
- No remarriage. The relaxation applies only if you have not remarried.
- The ceilings are fixed. The maximum ages above already combine the 7 years with your caste category, so 38 is the final ceiling for an OBC candidate and 40 for SC/ST. The notification says relaxations are not cumulative, so you cannot add PwBD or ex-servicemen relaxation on top of these.
- Proof is checked at joining. Candidates claiming age relaxation must submit the supporting certificates at the time of joining. Keep a death certificate of the spouse, a divorce decree or a court order of judicial separation ready, along with a self-declaration of not having remarried if asked.
- Category is fixed at registration. Choose the correct category in the online form, because no change is allowed later.
Other things that stay the same
You still need a graduation degree in any discipline by the date given in the notification (31 December 2026 for the 2026 cycle), proficiency in the local language of the State/UT you apply for, and you pay the fee that applies to your caste category. The relaxation helps only with the upper age limit.
