Banker Anisha has about 5,950 free SBI Clerk practice questions across all 76 syllabus topics, and every one comes with a step-by-step solution, not just the answer key. Below are four sample questions with the kind of working you will see, and a method for learning from solutions.
Why a solution is worth more than an answer key
An answer key tells you that option C was right. A solution tells you why the other four were wrong, which shortcut saves 30 seconds, and which trap you walked into. That second kind of information is what moves your score.
Every question here, including the generated ones, shows the working line by line once you answer. Generated questions compute both the answer and the steps, so the solution always matches the numbers you were given.
Sample: a quadratic equations question
Question. I. x² − 7x + 12 = 0 II. y² − 9y + 20 = 0. Find the relation between x and y.
Solution.
- Factorise I: (x − 3)(x − 4) = 0, so x = 3 or 4.
- Factorise II: (y − 4)(y − 5) = 0, so y = 4 or 5.
- Compare every pair: 3 < 4, 3 < 5, 4 = 4, 4 < 5.
- x is never greater than y, and is equal once. Answer: x ≤ y.
Sample: an inequality question
Statement. P > Q ≥ R = S < T
Conclusions. I. P > S II. T > Q
Solution. For I, follow the chain from P to S: P > Q ≥ R = S. There is one strict sign and no opposite sign, so P > S is true. For II, the chain from Q to T runs Q ≥ R = S < T. The signs point in opposite directions (≥ then <), so no relation can be fixed. Only I follows.
Sample: an error detection question
Sentence. Neither of the two clerks / have submitted / the cash report / before closing time.
Solution. "Neither of" takes a singular verb, because it refers to each of the two separately. The error is in part two: "have submitted" should be "has submitted". Parts one, three and four are correct.
Sample: a banking awareness question
Question. State Bank of India was formed in 1955 by taking over which bank?
Solution. SBI was constituted on 1 July 1955 under the State Bank of India Act, 1955, taking over the Imperial Bank of India. The Imperial Bank itself had been formed in 1921 by merging the three Presidency Banks of Bengal, Bombay and Madras.
Notice that the solution gives you three facts for the price of one. That is deliberate. GA solutions here add the context you are likely to be asked next.
Sample: a profit and loss question
Question. A shopkeeper buys a bag for ₹800, marks it 25% above cost and gives a 10% discount. What is his profit percentage?
Solution.
- Marked price = 800 × 1.25 = ₹1,000.
- Selling price after 10% discount = 1,000 × 0.9 = ₹900.
- Profit = 900 − 800 = ₹100.
- Profit % = 100 ÷ 800 × 100 = 12.5%.
Shortcut shown in the solution: successive change = 25 − 10 − (25 × 10 ÷ 100) = 12.5%. No rupee figures needed. In the exam, this saves you two lines of working and the chance of a slip in step 2.
A method for learning from solutions
- Answer first, honestly. Do not peek. Use the rough-work pad or paper.
- Read the solution even when you were right. You may have been right slowly, or right by luck.
- Bookmark any question with a shortcut you did not know. Revise bookmarks once a week.
- Let wrong answers go to the mistake book. Redo them three days later without looking at the solution.
- Move on when accuracy is steady. Around 80% on a topic over 30 or more questions is a reasonable signal to shift to mocks for it.
